Lightweight construction

Engineering services in the field of lightweight construction require a precise knowledge of the normative fundamentals. Almost all our key services revolve around lightweight structures. The most used material in this context is an aluminum alloy, which exactly matches our specialization. We are experts in the use of lightweight materials. Where the day-to-day business of traditional structural engineers in building construction usually ends, that’s where we begin. Explained by the example of aluminum alloys, the use requires a detailed knowledge of the related standardization with all contingencies, such as heat influence after welding and material behavior. Cross-section classifications, also combined with the heat influence, for often very thin-walled extruded profiles require normative special knowledge to get the optimum out of the design.

Solutions from the event industry / event technology are increasingly being used in classic building construction. For example, aluminum trusses are often used for TGA applications, or as cable bridges or advertising structures.

Lightweight construction is also the use of aluminum profiles or thin-walled steel profiles in facade technology or for furnishings.

Supporting structures made of primary supporting membranes are also particularly lightweight structures. At events, they are used to erect tents. In the construction industry, entire stadium roofs are made of membranes.
